Dear Brothers, Parents, Alumni, Friends of the Chapter, and Potential New Members,

My name is Simon Turner and I am president of the Ohio Gamma Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon here at the Ohio State University. My tenure as President began in January of 2018.

Upon my arrival to the Ohio State University in Fall of 2016, I had no intention of joining a Greek Chapter. My idea of Greek Life was formed from seeing movies and hearing horror stories on the news. I wondered, what could possibly be the purpose of these organizations, beyond supporting alcoholism and disrespect towards women? It was not until an old friend of mine reached out to me, and encouraged me to apply for the Balanced Man Scholarship. It was through this process that I realized Sigma Phi Epsilon was unique. Every brother I met treated me as if we were old friends. They asked me about my family, my aspirations, and my values. Beyond that, these brothers followed up with me regularly to check in and see how I was adjusting to college life. Because of all of this, by the time that Spring Semester rolled around, I knew that I wanted SigEp to be my home for the rest of my time at college.

During my time in Sigma Phi Epsilon, I have loved every moment, so much that I have been drawn to make my chapter even better from the day I joined. Since that day, the Balanced Man Program, our continuous member development program, has given me the opportunity to grow everyday into the type of man that I strive to be.

Our chapter’s success draws from the success of its brothers. Among the ranks we find published researchers, a University Trustee, Hackathon champions, Homecoming Court winners, entrepreneurs, and presidents of multiple clubs around campus. I am a firm believer that excellence breeds excellence, so it is no surprise that our chapter’s members excel in so many areas.

On campus, SigEp Ohio Gamma has the highest GPA of all fraternities with a 3.615 chapter average for Fall of 2017.  Furthermore, we have received 8 Chapter of The Year awards from Ohio State, 8 straight Buchanan Cups, awarded by SigEp Headquarters to the top chapters, and we have won OSU’s student organization of the year multiple times for our great work with member development, community service, and strong recruitment.

At the end of the day, we are a group of men who stand for the values which we claim as our own, these our Virtue, Diligence, and Brotherly Love. Each decision that we make finds its motivation in these values, and I believe that this is what separates us from other chapters and leads us to continue growing. I have seen boys become men in Ohio Gamma and I stand firmly for the fact that the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity experience adds value to each and every man’s life.

If you would like to speak to me about or Chapter, The Ohio State University, or anything else, please send me an email at

In Virtue, Diligence, and Brotherly Love,

Simon J. Turner
